This is when we started Casa Petisco – our charming B&B in Martinchel, located between Tomar and Abrantes. Surrounded by history, nature, and sunshine, our B&B is the perfect base for exploring Portugal’s cultural gems. Whether you’re an adventurer or just looking to unwind, there’s something here for everyone!

At Casa Petisco, we love welcoming guests from all over the world and creating a warm and relaxed experience. We can’t wait to host you and share the magic of this place! We speak Portuguese, Dutch and English.

🏡  What can you expect from your Stay at Casa Petisco

• We offer two cozy double rooms on the upper floor. Exclusively rented to one family or two couples (of friends), ensuring total privacy.
• The upper floor includes a spacious living room, 1 bathroom, a balcony with seating, WiFi, and a relaxation/room—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
• Downstairs, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to whip up a nice meal.
• The space is separated from the rest of the house and has a separate entrance.

• Take a dip in our swimming pool—a perfect spot to soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
• Lounge in the sunbeds and garden seating, where you can unwind with a good book or simply enjoy the warm Portuguese sun.
• Fire up the BBQ for a laid-back evening of grilling.
• Challenge your travel companions to a match at the foosball table by the pool!

The area

🚗 A Car is Essential

Casa Petisco is nestled in a beautiful, peaceful setting—a place to truly unwind and escape. However, this also means that there is no public transportation nearby, so having your own car is essential to reach us and explore the area at your own pace. Within a 15-minute drive, you’ll find Tomar and Abrantes, where you can enjoy shops, restaurants, and cozy terraces.

Tomar

The town B&B host Carla grew up in! The crown jewel of Tomar is the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Portugal’s most remarkable landmarks.

Beyond its rich history, Tomar is a vibrant town with charming cobbled streets, lively squares, and a welcoming atmosphere. The Nabão River adds to the city’s picturesque setting, with riverside cafés perfect for relaxing and soaking in the scenery. The town also hosts the famous Festa dos Tabuleiros, a spectacular festival held every four years, celebrating tradition with colorful parades and flower-covered streets.

Known as the City of the Templars, Tomar was once the headquarters of the Order of the Knights Templar, and their legacy can still be felt in the city’s stunning monuments.

Abrantes

Abrantes is a small but charming and historic town in central Portugal, set on a hill overlooking the Tagus River. Its medieval castle, once a strategic fortress, offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

The town’s streets are lined with whitewashed houses, small squares, and local cafés, creating a quiet, authentic atmosphere. Abrantes is also known for its green spaces, like the Castelo Garden, perfect for a peaceful walk. Though not as well-known as nearby cities, it has a rich past and a relaxed charm, making it an interesting stop for those exploring the region.

Constancia

Constância is a small and picturesque town in central Portugal, where the Zêzere and Tagus rivers meet. Known for its whitewashed houses and narrow streets, the town has a peaceful charm and a strong connection to the poet Luís de Camões, who is said to have lived here. The rivers make it a great spot for swimming, canoeing, and other water activities.

With its riverside parks, small cafés, and beautiful views, Constância is a perfect place to relax or explore nature while enjoying the quiet beauty of this hidden gem.
